The Annual Mater Dei Foundation dinner

On Saturday night the annual Mater Dei Foundation dinner took place at the Cube. Each year this event somehow surpasses the expectation set by the year before and once again we were blown away with the night. This year, the theme was Casino Royale and upon entering the room it was like walking into a James Bond 007 set, with chandeliers hanging from the roof, a red carpet and a grand piano as the feature in the middle of the room…

The night began with a performance by the kids at Mater Dei singing the classic “Aint no mountain high enough” and they absolutely blew the entire audience away with their passion and enthusiasm… this set the tone for the night. The performances continued with special guests Marina Prior and Mark Vincent who performed some of the greatest hits from Phantom of the Opera and My Fair Lady, although the performance of the night was by Jade, Mater Dei’s school captain, who captivated the audience with her original song she wrote….. I don’t believe there was a dry eye during her performance. The night was not just about showcasing the talent of our beloved students at Mater Dei, it was about raising money.. And with over 550 people from Macarthur in the room, everyone was there to dig deep and raise as much as we can to support our local Camden School. The online donations of school equipment quickly sold out and the public auction was a huge success with one auction item bringing in $25 000! Whilst the final tally hasn’t been released just yet, I am certain this night was a success and I am proud our community can come together in one room and support our local school in Camden, Mater Dei
